PURPOSE:To enable stable detection of overcharge to be secured by providing an electrically independent oxygen gas detection electrode aside from a hydrogen gas absorption auxiliary electrode. CONSTITUTION:Positive electrodes 32, negative electrodes 33, and separators 34 each being interposed between the positive electrode 32 and the negative electrode 33 are placed in a case 31. A hydrogen gas absorption auxiliary electrode 35 subjected to waterproofing is placed in the case 31 in such a manner that the electrode 35 is connected to the positive electrode 32 through a serial circuit consisting of a diode 36 and a resistance 37. The case 31 is sealed by means of an anode top 41 with an insulating sealing plate 42 interposed between the case 31 and the top 41, thereby a secondary nickel-zinc battery or the like being constituted. An oxygen gas detection electrode 38 is placed in the case 31 and is connected to an external terminal 39. The detection electrode 38 is prepared, for example, by impregnating a porous nickel sintered body with platinum used as a catalyst, before the sintered body impregnated with platinum is subjected to waterproofing. |
