Demountable impeller for marine vessel - with encapsulated gearing removed in one fitting with propeller

The marine vessel impeller has the propeller on a swivel mounting on a gearing driven by connections through the hull. The impeller is mounted in a capsule which locates in a prepared recess under the hull, and can be removed in one piece after the recess is sealed from the inside of the hull. The recess has profiled sides for accurate alignment of the capsule. The top of the capsule is sealed by a separate internal cover (14). The capsule is dropped from the hull on special cables and is dragged sideways and out of the water. The impeller drives can be exchanged without special dry dock facilities.
