<p>The crop or grain dryer with a horizontal cylindrical drying chamber (1) has hot and cold air passed horizontally through a channel (8) underneath its perforated base sheeting (6). Inside, a horizontally mounted drive shaft carries a system of radial arms (15) with plates across their outer ends, acting as paddles or stirrer members. These plates are arranged along a spiral path so that they advance material through the chamber. At one end is a feed hopper (12) at the top, and discharge openings (13) are incorporated in the wall (4) at the other end. A blower (9) is positioned at the feed end, below the drive (21) for the horizontal shaft. This discharges air through a larger part of the air channel which contains a position forming a smaller channel through which air passes at a lower pressure.</p> |
