The container (1) with a top closure lid (2) is intended for dispensing individual tablets or the like. The lid is hinged (3) to the container and, when closed, overlaps upwards projecting portions (5) of the container side walls. The upwards projecting portion of the container side wall, opposite to the hinge, is provided with a dispensing opening (7), whilst corresponding snap-in areas (8) on container and lid limit the swivel movement of the lid. Thus only this opening can be exposed. The container and lid may be formed as an integral plastics component joined via a film hinge.
