The scraper chain conveyor unit is partic. intended for moving heaped bulk material, e.g in underground mining operations. It comprises at least one set of endless scraper chains (17A), of symmetrical arrangement, which are driven via sprocket wheels (18-20) and each carry swivelable scrapers (12). Each scraper has a projection (25,26) at its trailing end to support it on a chain link (27,28), as it travels between the two sprocket wheels. Further projections (29) slide along fixed curved guide tracks (30-32) to support it as it passes around these wheels. Each track may be formed by the periphery (31,32) of a disc segment (30).
