The base heating elements are mounted flow ducts and the water resistance column in insulated ducts. The entire system is protected against deposition of scale, corrosion, and other such drawbacks encountered when using mains water. Preferably, tube-like heating duct sleeves are of laminated construction and their cross section differs from circular. Typical cross-sections are triangular, polygonal, or oval. At least one inner sleeve wall is of such selected material and shape, as to be deformable into almost circular shape. Between two laminar surfaces of the sleeve layers may be enclosed a volume of gaseous or liquid medium. The shield may be formed by an inner part of oval cross-section and an outer part of almost circular cross-section. A circular cross-section may be surrounded by a polygonal one.
