PURPOSE:To prevent cracking of ceramics and improve their matching characteristics by providing a waveguide section at the upper and lower parts of a terminal attenuator, respectively, and soldering loss and backup loss ceramics, bordering on a short-circuiting plate which shorts the inter-waveguide section. CONSTITUTION:Waveguide sections 8 and 8' are provided at the upper and lower parts of a terminal attenuator 6 in a waveguide 4 and the inter-waveguide section is electrically shorted by short-circuiting plates 10 and 10' on each end. Then, loss ceramics 11 and 11' for progressive and regressive waves and backup loss ceramics 12 and 12' are soldered bordering on the short-circuiting plate 10 and 10', respectively. In this case, the soldering area to both the short-circuiting plates 10 and 10' are made equal and their thickness is made thin. This prevents cracking of the loss ceramics 11 and 11' and backup loss ceramics 12 and 12' due to difference in heat expansion coefficient of each material and besides permits the backup loss ceramics 12 and 12' to apply distribution loss in a cavity 5. As a result, their matching failure can be prevented and their matching characteristics are improved. |
