A composite material comprising polymethyl methacrylate coated a vinylidene fluoride polymer wherein at least one surface of the polymethyl methacrylate is coated with a coating of a vinylidene fluoride polymer having a maximum thickness which is one-tenth of the thickness of the polymethyl methacrylate, the thickness of the vinylidene fluoride polymer coating being no greater than 400 microns. An adhesive may be used for binding the materials.
