<p>PURPOSE:In the presence of a crystalline transition metal organosilicate containing a compound such as alcohol, the reaction of a compound such as alcohol is effected to inhibit the formation of carbon, prolong the catalyst life and produce the titled mixture used as high octane gasoline. CONSTITUTION:An acidic aqueous solution of trivalent transition metal compound such as aluminum sulfate or ferric sulfate is added to aqueous water-glass to give a compound with a chemical composition of the formula (R is mono- or divalent cation; n is valency of R; M is trivalent transition metal cation; a+b=1, a>0, b>=0, y>=12) where the formula is expressed as an oxide (dehydrated form) in moles. Then, a compound such as alcohol, organic amine, ether, ketone or ester is added to the compound to give the catalyst of crystalline transition metal organosilicate. The reaction of an alcohol of 1-4 carbon atoms and/or an ether is effected using the above catalyst at 300-600 deg.C under less than 100atm pressure to produce the objective mixture.</p> |
