Locking device for sliding window, door and the like, including an inner plate (46) comprising an operating rod (50) manually manageable from the interior of the window and having a notch (90) cooperating with a control element (45) of a key element (39) integral with an outer plate (1), actuating the operating rod (50) from the exterior of the window, this control element (45) being, in rest position, disengaged from the notch (90) of the operating rod (50), characterized in that the key element (39) consists of a safety barrel whose key only can be taken away after having made describe a complete round to the control element (45) of the barrel (39) ; that the rotation axis of the safety barrel (39) and the axis of the control element (45) in rest position are disposed in a plane (89) parallel to the displacement direction of the operating rod (50) that the notch (90) has a depth at least equal to the radius of action of the control element (45) and that the spacing of the opposed action edges (91, 92) of the notch (90) and the radius of action of the control element (45) are chosen so that when pivoting of an entire round in a direction or in the other one, the control element (45) leans against one of the abovementioned action edges (91, 92) and moves the operating rod (50).
