PURPOSE:To perform titled recovery and prolong the life of a metallic material which has been subjected to neutral irradiation in an irradiation hardening embrittling temp. region by heating said material after the end of irradiation and annealing the same at a constant temp. CONSTITUTION:In, for example, the divertor plate of a nuclear fusion device, the maximum temp. of the plate is ket at below the swelling temp. region during operation. Next, after the coolant in the plate is drained upon ending of the one day's operation, a gas for heating is flowed into the coolant flow passage, and is so heated that the minimum temp. of the plate rises higher than the restoration temp. for irradiation damage. After all parts of the plate have been heated to above the restoration temp., the plate is held at this temp. for a constant time, whereby it is annealed. Upon completion of the annealing, the high temp. gas is exhausted, and the coolant is flowed. At the point of the time when the maximum temp. of the plate lowers below the lower limit of the swelling temp. region, the operation of the nuclear fusion device is resumed. Thereafter, the operation is repeated in this order. |
