<p>PURPOSE:To effectively recover indium and silver from a substance contg. indium, silver and iron by adding a chlorinating agent and a reducing agent to the substance and heating them to the reducing temp. of iron or above. CONSTITUTION:Residue discharged from a reducing furnace in the dry smelting of zinc is magnetically separated to obtain a substance contg. indium silver and iron. To the substance are added a chlorinating agent such as calcium chloride or ammonium chloride and a carbon-base reducing agent. By heating the mixture to >=1,050 deg.C at which iron is reduced, the indium is separated by chlorination and evaporation. At this time, the silver as a valuable metal exists in the reduced iron. It is then separated with a magnetic separator and used in the smelting of copper.</p> |
