PURPOSE:To considerably facilitate the starting of discharge and to shorten the restarting time, by arranging the portion of a resistor where the heat is produced strongly while separating by specific discharge from the wall of the light emission tube then applying from the wall of the light emission tube then applying the required voltage between the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Required amount of mercury and proper amount of auxiliary starting gas or argon are encapsulated in a silicon light emission tube 1 where main electrodes 2, 3 are arranged at both ends while a filament 5 made of W is connected to the main electrode 2. Main electrodes 2, 3 are connected through each leads 8, 9 to a lighting device 12. The coil section of said filament is arranged while separated more than 3mm. from the wall of the light emission tube, where the filament 5 connected to the main electrode 2 is connected through a lead 10 to a lighting device 12. Consequently the starting of discharge is considerably facilitated even under high pressure mercury vapor resulting in the shortening of the restarting time. |
