The water-impermeable flexible plate is intended for installation as a weir in a water course and has its lower edge secured to a bottom sill of the weir whilst its upper edge is fixed to a rigid element, such as the upper edge of a weir door hingeable on a transverse pivot at the water course bed. At least one side of the plate is provided with a number of strengthening cables which absorb the forces acting on the weir and extend in vertical direction from the upper to the lower edge whilst being connected such that they are movable relative to the plate. Cables may be of plastic e.g. 'Kevlar'(RTM) or corrosion resistant metal wire. Flexible water-impermeable plate for installation as weir in water course.
