PURPOSE:To reduce damage of an ink ribbon by a method wherein plural kinds of typewriting color parts are provided on the ink ribbon toward a longitudinal direction thereof along with color display stripe parts and said color display stripe parts are detected by an optical ditector to decide a color and transferred to a desired color part. CONSTITUTION:Plural kinds (three kinds in a figure) of typewriting color parts 121, 122, 123 are repeatedly provided on an ink ribbon toward a longitudinal direction thereof as well as, between each color parts 121, 122, 123, stripe parts 131, 1322, 133 with optical property displaying a color of a front or a rear color part. As said strip part, for example, a light pearmeable substance with different length corresponding to a color variety. Said stripe parts 131, 132, 133 are detected by an optical detecting means to decide a color and the ink ribbon is driven to be transferred so as to move a desired color part to a typewriting part. |
