PURPOSE:To generate air flow in the discharge gap area and improve ignition performance by providing a noncombustible mixture sump on a spark plug. CONSTITUTION:When mixture is absorbed in the intake stroke and compressed in the compression stroke in an internal combustion, a part of the mixture in a cylinder passes through the space 13 of a spark plug and its communication hole 12 and moves to a sump 11. In this case, flow velocity occurs naer the central electrode 1 and ground electrode 2 of the spark plug by the movement of the mixture. As a result, noncombustible mixture can always reach the discharge gap of the spark plug. Besides, when discharge starts at the discharge gap, the property of ignition is improved and combustion is evened every cycles. |
