In order to identify mutually identical apparatuses which are connected via a data bus system, coding of the individual apparatuses is required. If the apparatuses are intended to be mutually interchangeable, the coding cannot be carried out in the apparatuses themselves. Said coding is provided in the plug sockets (3) of the connections which are detachable from the plug (printed circuit board 1) and plug socket (3), since the plug sockets (3) are arranged unambiguously with the cabling at predetermined points of the apparatus system. The coding itself is carried out in such a manner that the number of possible connections between conductor tracks (2) and the rake teeth (6) of the contact rake (5) is variable by removing individual rake teeth (7). A possible application for use of this coding is in the textile industry where a large number of existing thread cleaners are connected via a data bus system for the transmission of operating data and the signals from each thread cleaner are intended to be evaluated separately from those from the other thread cleaners. <IMAGE>
