PURPOSE:To reduce the number of times of oscillation and shorten the time thereof when positioning a needle by obtaining a friction braking by relative displacement between needle and stator. CONSTITUTION:This linear motor-braking mechanism is provided with a cylindrically formed guide member 4 with radius r1 and a guide member 5 consisting of two cylinders with radii r2, r3. When a needle 2 oscillates, an outer face 4a of the guide member 4 touches two faces of a stator left side 1s and a needle left outer side 2s while a small diameter outer face 5a and a large diameter outer face 5b of the guide member 5 come in contact with a needle right outer side face 2s' and a stator right inner side face 1s', respectively. If the needle 2 moves linearly with respect to the stator 1, slips occur on the face 1s or 1s' and the braking force by friction works on the needle.
