The mobile cutting machine for special purposes has a swivelling mechanism (3) which is arranged on a rest (2). The rest (2) is mounted so as to be displaceable in the direction of the front part (1) of the cutting machine. The cutting arm (4) can be swivelled downwards into a vertical or virtually vertical position and enables the floor lying in front of the travelling mechanism of the machine to be cut. The horizontal swivel axis (16) of the swivelling mechanism (3) lies in front of the front part (1) of the machine as viewed in plan view. The rest (2) is displaceably guided on two guideways (6, 7) positively enclosed by the support (2) and is driven in a simple manner by a thrust-piston mechanism. The frame (8) of the cutting machine has a trapezoidal platform (9) which narrows towards the rear end (17). The caterpillar bodies (31, 32) of the cutting machine are at an angle to the front part (1) of the machine as viewed in plan view.
