The free wheel attachment consists of a cage (7) in the shape of a horizontal U. The inner leaf (10) of the cage is a running fit over the shaft (6) whilst the outer leaf (9) is a running fit inside the outer rotating element (4). The outer leaf (9) has indentations (11) with holes (13) through which cams (1) protrude. The bottom of the cams make contact with the inner shaft (6) through the holes (14). The cams are assembled onto the return band spring (2) prior to assembly in the cage (7). To facilitate lubrication and cooling, holes (15) are provided in the flange (8) of the cage. The cage is manufactured from brass having a low coefficient of friction.
