The half shaft location for a differential has the half shafts (5,6) clamped to the rotating housing (3) of the differential by wedge rings (20) driven into a wedge slot (21) in the end of the housing. The wedges are held in place by springs (23) and serve to dampen any radial vibrations due to poor tolerance fit. The wedge rings are slotted to compress into the grooves and are positioned under the inner shell of the half shaft bearings (29). The springs are located inside the sliding seals at the ends of the bearings.
