The invention relates to a drive arrangement for a pivotable tool carrier for machine tools, in particular lathes. The object of the invention is to create an arrangement which, with little technical outlay, results in a smooth advance and entry of the tool carrier when pivoting into the selected working position. In a drive arrangement for a pivotable tool carrier, this is achieved according to the invention by a known hydraulic follow-up device being used as directional control valve, which follow-up device is preferably arranged axially relative to the tool-carrier shaft, the control spool of the follow-up device being rotationally connected to a known program-controlled stepping mechanism, and the follow-up sleeve being in motional connection with the tool-carrier shaft. <IMAGE>
