1. Use of water insoluble, hardenable mixed ethers of methylolmelamines, methylol ureas or methylol guanamines, the methylol groups of which are etherified with monoalcohols with from 4 to 8 carbon atoms and the solutions of which have a white spirit tolerance of at least 2:1, preferably of betwen 1:2 and 1:40 and a glycerol/methanol tolerance of between 5:1 and 1:3, as additives for water dilutable coating compositions to prevent cissing and bubbling or to accelerate air release.
