Spot welding electrode configuration - with large face end and conical recess for coolant circulation

An efficiently cooled electrode for intermittent welding operations, specially for spot welding of material with a good electrical conductivity such as Al, has a large thermal capacity in the face plate of the electrode. The recess for the coolant has a conical form and the coolant inlet pipe terminates in a restricted cross-section. This keeps the face end cool and eliminates the risk of low- melting alloys forming and adhering to the electrode.
