Shield driven tunnel tube site concrete lining - has reinforcement under shield tail protection and offset outer concrete shell

The advantages of monolithic and sectioned assembly methods are combined in a process for constructing cladding made of site concrete for a tunnel tube opened up by shield forward driving. Reinforcement (5) is introduced into the site concrete cladding already prepared, within the protection of the shield tail. The transposable inner formwork is then mounted and filled with concrete. Concrete for an additional, outer concrete shell (4) is then applied, offset from this in time and space, between the inner shell and rock, while the shield is travelling. This makes it possible to provide both reinforcement and a sealed finish.
