<p>An internal lining for automobiles, esp. a roof lining for private cars or passenger carrying vehicles, comprises a front facing sheet of perforated foil with a foam backing; behind this is an air-filled upholstery sheet permanently bonded to it and comprising a central sheet contg. depressions at regular intervals to provide the cushion effect, with cover sheets bonded onto both faces of it. The entire composite sheet is curved to correspond to the automobile roof and may be attached directly to it without any bridging across support strips or ribs. Pref. materials include: for the upholstery strip a softened or modified polypropylene; or polyethylene for the central layer of this upholstery with polypropylene facing sheets. This composite material is moisture and acoustically insulating, easily handled and easy to cut and fit.</p> |
