PURPOSE:To compensate burst errors by substituting information in an adjacent block when more than a prescribed number of errors are detected in one block. CONSTITUTION:Image information on a document 1 is scanned by a facsimile equipment 8 as much as one page and picture elements equivalent to one line corresponding to each scanning line are stored in a buffer memory 9. In this case, the picture elements for one line is stored as one block of information together with an added error detection code and an added error correction code. The contents of the buffer memory 9 are read, block by block, and recorded on tracks 4 of an optical disk 3. In reading the contents of the optical disk 3, if errors exceed a predetermined range, a signal A is selected by a gate 22 and one block of information one line before the block is stored in a buffer memory 23 as a substitute for the block of information. |
