A heated crucible contains molten metal, in which a doser is immersed. Molten metal delivered by the doser flows along a pipe which slopes upwards towards a vertical pipe, which has an outlet pipe sloping downwards. The vertical pipe pref. contains a non- return valve using a ball which can be lifted off a valve seat by the molten metal; and the outlet pipe is located above the non-return valve. The vertical pipe is pref. surrounded by a heated element, and is detachably mounted on the outlet end of the pipe which slopes upwards and conveys metal heaving the doser. Used e.g. in foundries, for deliverying a dose of molten metal to a cold- chamber pressure die casting machine. Drips of molten metal leaving the outlet pipe after delivery of a dose are eliminated; and the surface oxidn. of the molten metal is minimised.
