The contact element is intended for pinch connection to a conductor, e.g in plug connectors. A solid pin, or socket, contact member (1,1') is fitted with axial stud (6) over which is inserted a stamped sheet metal conductor connector (2) and provided with a metallic connection with the stud. The connector has a slotted, tubular protrusion (9), with lateral opening in its U-shaped cross section in conductor coupling region (8). Preferably. the connection between the contact member and conductor connector is soldered in the region of the slot of the tubular projection. The contact member may have an annular band (5) with an axial annular groove, with an insertion chamfer in outwards pointing groove wall. An annular groove in the contact member may retain a resilient, blocking, conical element.
