PURPOSE:To prevent any danger of the explosion of an alkaline battery caused during the overcharge by providing the negative case with parts that are weak to the internal pressure of the battery, and thereby releasing the inner sealing of the battery when the internal pressure exceeds a given value through the deformation of these weak parts. CONSTITUTION:A negative case 3 serving as a sealing plate is connected to the upper end of a positive case 1, with a sealing ring 2 interposed between the case 1 and the case 3. The internal space formed by the case 1 and the 3 is divided by a separator 4 into an upper and a lower room. For instance, the upper room is packed with a negative active material 5 made of an amalgamated zinc powder, while the lower room is packed with a positive active material 6 made of a molded body of silver oxide. The annular periphery of the negative case 3 is provided with a plural number of ditches, which work as weak parts 7. |
