Metl. resistant to spark erosion and having spark-extinguishing ability consists of 90-10 wt. % of W or its carbides, 10-90 wt. % of Ag (pref) or Cu, and up to 7 wt. % MgO (pref. 0.5-3.5 wt. %, esp. 1.5-2.5 wt. %). Powdered mixt. of these components is compressed under high press; presintered in a protective gas atmos; sintered; and infiltrated with liquid Ag or Cu.
