摘要 <p>A glass ceramic cooking plate for use with heating elements comprises a glass ceramic base layer, having a high transmittance (pref. >80%) of radiation of 0.7-5 (pref. 0.7-2.0) mu wavelength, covered on its top surface with a tenaciously adhered thinner layer which absorbs all radiation of 0.7-5 mu, pref. 20% radiation of 0.7-2.0 mu, which is transmitted through the base layer. The base layer is pref. 3.0-5.5 mm thick and the top covering layer 0.3-0.55 mm thick. The covering layer prevents reflection from the cooking pot back through the base layer to the heat elements of infra-red radiation, but is thin enough not to impede the heating characteristics of the unit. The outer layer also places the whole under compression so that mechanical strength of the cooking surface is increased. Also the brightly glowing heating elements remain unseen due to opacity of the glass ceramic in the visible wavelength regions.</p>
