The machine for making concrete building blocks has a hopper (16) which discharges the concrete onto an endless belt conveyor (17). The conveyor is moved forward to tip the concrete into the mould (12) which is mounted on the vibrating table (10). When the conveyor is withdrawn theram (14) descends to tamp the concrete in the mould. The equipment is provided with scrapers which keep the ram, the conveyor belt and the mould surface clear of concrete.. The height of the conveyor does not have to be altered as the mould is progressively filled. The concrete waste which is removed by the scrapers is reused.
