PURPOSE:To measure the number of steps by detecting swinging motion caused by walking of a weight made of a permanent magnet installed in a housing through a damping member with a magnetism detector placed in proximity to the weight and counting by a counter. CONSTITUTION:The pedometer is composed of a weight made of a permanent magnet installed in a housing through a damping member, a magnetism detector placed in proximitty and a counter that counts the detection signals. For instance, a weight 8 connected to a permanent magnet 12 by a holding rod 11 is installed in a housing 10 through a damping member 9 such as rubber. Swinging motion caused by walking is detected by a yoke 14 and a coil 13, and the number of detected signals is counted by a counter. At this time, it is possible to make the counting once every step of walking by counting only when the amplitude of accelerating motion exceeds a prescribed value. Thus, an accurate pedometer can be obtained. |
