The prosthetic leg has a thermo-plastics shell (10) covering the connection of the prosthesis to the body. The hip joint (1,2) is connected to the upper end of a tubular element (4) whose lower end is mounted in a socket (5). This socket articulates with an adjusting block (6) mounted above the prosthetic knee joint (7). An auxiliary strut (19) bears against the upper shell of the prosthesis to support part of the user's weight. The lower end of the strut is articulated about the same axis (13) as that of the socket supporting the main tubular element.
