<p>The system has an enclosure fitted over the insulated conductor to define the zone to be stripped, into which a hot air stream at a temp at least equal to the insulation melting temp. is forced. The air stream is divided into laminar streams directed onto the top of the insulation so as to divide the latter. The cut edges of the insulation contact the walls of the enclosure to form a seal such that the air stream then ensures that it is forced away from the conductor and is pushed downwards and out of the bottom of the enclosure. Pref. the enclosure is formed by two similar halves (2,3) fitted together to enclose the conductor. Each half (2,3) has a semicircular section surrounding the conductor with which a narrow flow duct (7,15) communicates at the centre, in line with the longitudinal axis (18) of the conductor. The upper flow duct (7) communicates with a bore (8) into which the hot air line (9) is fitted.</p> |
