PURPOSE:To recognize patterns in a high speed through reducing read errors, by converting the pattern from a memory file to a video signal and by comparing this signal with a video signal generated from the original surface. CONSTITUTION:A character written on an original surface 1 is detected by an optical camera 10, and a video signal 20 is generated by a video generating circuit 11. This signal 20 is digitized in a circuit 12, and a video signal 21 indicating the pattern is sent from the circuit 12 to a comparing circuit 15, and a synchronizing signal indicating the position in the pattern of the video signal is sent to a counter 16. A memory file 13 reads out successively one pattern among plural stored pattern on a basis of the address value from the counter 16 and sends them to the circuit 15 through a parallel-series converting circuit 14. The circuit 15 compares outputs of circuits 12 and 14 with each other to recognize that the video signal 20 of the original surface 1 coincides with any pattern in the memory 13. |
