A moulding material for making mouldings to close dimensional tolerances comprises a blend of 15-30% resin (I), 0-20% diluent (II), 20-40% filler (III), 0.1-0.5% catalyst (IV) and 0.020-0.4% activator (V). Pref. (I) is a methacrylic resin, (II) is methyl methacrylate, (III) is silica, of a colourant, pref. an organic dye. Esp. for making void-free mouldings with an annular array of triangular section longitudinal channels for use as guides for joints or terminals in multiple strand optical cables. The mouldings may be used to support and contain the splayed strands during cross-cutting and polishing to prepare optical junctions.
