MORANOLINE DERIVATIVE AND ITS PREPARATION

NEW MATERIAL:N-Lower alkyl oligoglycosylmoranoline of formula I (n is 0-7; R is lower alkyl). EXAMPLE:Oligoglucosyl N-methylmoranoline. USE:Drug having activity of prohibiting hyperglycemia. PREPARATION:Cyclodextrin glycosyltransferase is made to act on an aqueous solution including an N-lower alkylmoranoline and cyclodextrin or soluble starch to obtain a mixture including an N-lower alkyl derivative of formula I. Then, the mixture is fractionated into each component to give the compound of formula I. The cyclodextrin glycosyltransferase (abbreviated to A) is obtained from a microorganism capable of producing A in Bacillus or Klebsiella. The separation of the titled compound from the reaction is effected by a known method, e.g., using strongly acidic ion exchange resin columns.
