<p>PURPOSE: To eliminate confusions due to not executing an expected response by dynamically changing selection for control to be displayed in a menu, in response to input signal conditions. CONSTITUTION: Under the control of a microprocessor 53, a character generator 63 displays various kinds of 'menus' for a selection, based on the control of a user on the screen of a picture tube 17. In response to the absence of a stereo component in an audio signal generated by an audio demodulator 23, the microprocessor 53 deletes stereo and enlarged stereo reproduction modes from the audio menu and prevents these modes from being selected. Further, in response to the absence of a 2nd audio program component, the selection of a 2nd audio program reproduction mode is deleted, and that mode is prevented from being selected. Thus, the user selects any reproduction mode for enabling a change into ineffective one according to the input signal conditions, so that the confusion can be eliminated.</p> |
