A device (10) for fixing and connecting two pivoting parts (12, 14), especially of a chopper and a spreading cowl on a combine harvester, one of which is pivotable about a bearing (24) on a frame (16) and can be connected to the frame (16) via a locking element (20), is to be designed in such a way that the two pivoting parts (12, 14) can be brought into their operating position and held in this by few fastening means. For this purpose, the first pivoting part (12) is initially pivoted into its operating position and is held there temporarily by means of a locking element (20). The second pivoting part (14) is subsequently pivoted permanently into the path of movement of the other, and the locking element (20) is connected not to the frame (16) but instead to the other pivoting part (14), so that these can no longer move away from one another. Devices of this type are used on choppers or the like which are mounted on a combine harvester.
