Electrical flush mounted box unit with internal contacts which permit the usage to be changed from dimmer to various types of switch and vice versa. The box contains several terminals, either in a row or a staggered formation, and the switch or dimmer unit would be mounted above them. Facility also exists for an indicator lamp to be included in the housing. The terminals are connected to sprung contact units. The housing (19) of the switch or dimmer insert is also equipped with sprung contact shrouded terminals (26,27,31,32) so that connections may be made to the box unit terminals according to the usage. The connection between the switch or dimmer insert contacts (26,27) and the base box terminals is made using a double unit staggered spring connector which has compression spring ends to fit over terminal post bushes (31,32) on the insert (26,27) terminal strip and similar items on the box base. The box is suitable for mounting in the plaster of walls in buildings.
