The heat exchanger utilizes the hot flue gases which are passed through a nest of tubes in a tube plate. An inlet chamber (3) for the hot flue gases is positioned in front of the nest of tubes. The chamber is connected to a half of the nest of tubes on the front face. A deflection chamber (5) for the gases is located at the rear face. The gas flows from the deflection chamber into the second section of the next of tubes (7), and then through an outlet chamber (4). A transverse channel (13) extends from the front of the heat exchanger (1), inlet socket (11) for the air to be heated, radially through the nest of tubes. The channel is formed by transverse dividing walls (15), extending over 3/4 of the nest of tube cross-section.
