In the manufacture of seat or backrest cushions wherein a deep-drawn stretch cover with a foam-backing has a support (14) at the back the support (14) which can be a rail, frame, or plate is at least partially foamed into the foamed cushion core (12) in order to determine the size of the finished cushion. Now when the stretch cover shrinks as it cools its shrinkage is restricted by the fixed support allowing the desired sized cushions to be constantly achieved. The support can have a peripheral flange (18) at the back of the cushion to protrude out over the foamed core (12) to interact with a parallel rib (20) containing the outer edge (22) of the cover (10).
