发明名称 CERAMICS COMPOSITE MATERIAL AND ITS PRODUCTION
摘要 PURPOSE:To provide a ceramics composite material with which electric discharge machining can be easily executed by using TiB2 and Al2O3 as essential components and incorporating SiC whiskers therein. CONSTITUTION:Matrix powder prepd. by adding TiB2 having 0.5-10mu grain size to Al2O3 at 20-50vol.% by the volume of said Al2O3 and the SiC whiskers having 0.5-2.5mu diameter and 10-80mu length are previously mixed wet in a pot mill, etc., to obtain a slurry. After this slurry is dried and granulated, the granules are sintered by a hot press, etc., usually at 1,600-1,900 deg.C sintering temp. for 15min-2hr sintering time. The SiC whiskers are required to be incorporated at 10-40vol.% into the above-mentioned matrix powder in this case. The electric discharge machining is easier than for a composite material of an Al2O3-SiC whisker system and the ceramics composite material having improved fracture toughness is obtd. according to this invention.
