摘要 PURPOSE:To decrease the weight of springs as a whole, by contacting a main leaf spring, which rises relatively when the body of a vehicle goes down in excess of the fixed amount, with an auxiliary spring, and by increasing or decreasing the contacted surfaces of both springs toward the side of an axle housing according to the increased amount of going down of the body of vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A spring constant is low and held at the fixed value when the load is light to the spring, because a main leaf spring 12 does not contact with an auxiliary spring 17 and the span of main leaf spring has its maximum length L. When the load is imposed, the body goes down and the upper face of the main leaf spring 12 comes in contact with the tip point A of the auxiliary spring 17. This time, the span is contracted to la as the contacted point A serves as the supporting point, and also, is further contracted up to lb, as the auxiliary spring 17 increases the contacted surface from the point A to B by its elasticity. Therefore, the shock is absorbed by the auxiliary spring 17 when both springs come in contact with each other. The span decreases when the load is further increased, and it reaches its minimum when the upper surface of main leaf spring 12 comes in contact with the whole area from the point A to C of auxiliary spring 17. As the span cannot change any more, the spring constant is held at the fixed rate again.
