The mounting for securing a bicycle wheel (27) between the front or rear forks (A,B) of a cycle frame includes a spindle (2) through a sleeve (1) locked between inner races (21,22) for ball bearings (23,24) for the wheel hubs. At one end of the spindle is a locknut (13) with a recess on the inside, holding a spring (17) against one fork (B). At the other end is a locking handle (5) which secures the spindle at that end. This handle has its end (4) bent over to fit inside a domed cover (8) and secured so that the bent over end can be rotated about an axis at right angles to the spindle axis, so that the spindle can be released. This end passes through an eye (2a) on the end of the spindle and fits into a blind hole (10) inside the cover. It is stepped, and has a groove (16) for a securing ring (14) which locks against the inside of the cover, allowing the handle to be rotated.
|
