The installation draws heat from the atmosphere by means of a roof covering made of metal plates (2). These metal plates (2) are laid with their bent-over longitudinal edges in clamping rails (5) mounted on the roof construction (13) and clamped in by means of pipe parts (3) of a metal pipe. The pipe parts (3) open at the bottom into a virtually horizontal distributing pipe (1) and at the top into a virtually horizontal collecting pipe (8). The heat-conducting medium, e.g. water containing antifreeze, flows from the heat pump via the distributing pipe (1) and a large number of pipe parts (3) into the collecting pipe (8) and from there back into the heat pump. Even on sunless days, the heat pump draws heat from the metal roof covering (2) so that the temperature of the roof covering is kept lower than the temperature of its surroundings, the roof covering acting as a heat absorber. <IMAGE>
