<p>The precast reinforced concrete beam (1) has a shallow channel section with invert upstands (5) at definite longitudinal intervals, incorporated in composite suspended floors. Smooth horizontal top flange faces (2) form bearing seats for voided filler blocks (3) cum soffit forms. The beam and block constitute a permanent soffit form from a structural floor (7) of a monolithic in situ concrete beam and slab construction. Upstands (5) provide a shear connection with in situ beam (7), and the beam contain the total tensile steel requirements for the composite section (1,7). Steel may project from the upstands to provide inclined shear reinforcement in the composite beam. 1&2.</p> |
