The friction plate is inserted between two machine parts to provide a specific resistance to sliding on a slide interface, having the shape of a parallelogram with a lining applied to the friction face. The corners defining the front face may be rounded whilst those defining the rear face remain sharp, and the lining may be tapered off in thickness over the extent of rounded corners. The rear face may be roughened to facilitate the fixing of the plate by gluing, and face may include lubricating grooves. Friction plate may be fixed in lines to the abutting faces of the machine parts to form slideways with low or high friction characteristics.
